Simi Valley Landfill Expansion Idea: Maybe this is all a matter of perspective?

Have you recently shopped at Costco's, Walmart's or Home Depot?  Ever tried to find one someone in any of these stores?  All three of these HUGE stories sit very close to the landfill - enough that you can put into perspective (from a ground level view) just how large the landfill already is:

Here's a close up of the landfill as it is now (May, 2008) at half of its capacity and before it is doubled, nor increased in height by 15 stories:

Take a look at the size of the landfill when compared to the new Town Centre Mall and the Big Sky development... scary huh?  And this is BEFORE it is doubled in size!

In Simi Valley, we are very proud of being the home of the Ronald Reagan Library which is also the final resting spot of President Ronald Reagan.  As the 'crow flies', the two locations are less than two miles apart, and you can see the landfill when you're at the Library, which built a gorgeous facility to house Air Force One!

The Toland Landfill is situated almost midway between the cities of Fillmore and Santa Paul (approximate mileage of 10), but also back from where the general population of both cities live:

Let's look at how close the Simi Valley Landfill is to our homes - we live less than two miles 'as the crow flies' or less than three miles by city streets... I'm not a rocket scientist, but if Waste Management's current site is 298 acres (according to the CIWMB) and Waste Management bought an additional 2,800 acres, exactly where is all this expansion going to be?... Think about it...

Keeping it real (always),
Linda
